Dr. Lopez lectures to both doctors and lay people on the ill effects of stress, diet and lack of exercise.
In his book, "To Burn or Not to Burn, Fat is the Question," he points out that weight loss is more than simple diet and exercise. There is a missing piece to the puzzle - Stress, which triggers your hormones to burn or store fats. He understands that stress, diet and lack of exercise are the biggest reasons for weight gain and fatigue; but also recognizes how they contribute too many other health problems affecting our society. Dr. Lopez believes that in order to restore health, you must first restore normal function to the body.
Dr. Lopez states: "If you want to be successful with your weight loss efforts, you must learn how to trigger your body to burn calories from stored body fat. It's not how many calories you burn, because you can burn calories all day long from the breakdown of carbs and lean muscle. In other words if your last session on the treadmill or exercise bike said that you burned three hundred calories - it does not mean those were calories from stored body FAT.
